Department of Physics has been recognized as a “Research Centre” by the Anna University (Recognition Number – 4379520)

The department of Physics was established in the year 2010 to support the department for B.E., / B.Tech. Programmes.  It focuses on imparting knowledge in the applied Physics to the budding engineers through quality teaching, besides promoting research activities and consultancy. The overarching goal of the department is to furnish students with top-tier education and provide the requisite skills to excel across diverse engineering disciplines and research domains. The department of Physics is recognized as a “Research Centre” under the Anna University from 2023. The department also has tie-ups with recognized institutions and R & D laboratories for research activities. The faculty members are actively engaged with esteemed professional bodies such as MRSI, USI, ASI, ISTE, MSI, and IAPT. Through the interdisciplinary research endeavours, they have contributed to over 60 International and National peer-reviewed journal publications, as well as securing ten patents. Furthermore, the department consistently organizes technical lectures, seminars, and workshops, fostering a vibrant research culture among both faculty members and students. The specializations of the faculty members are in Nanomaterials, Magnetic materials, Dye degradation, Photonics, Photoluminescence, Optoelectronic Devices, Energy Storage Devices, Condensed Matter Physics, Thin films and Spectroscopy.
