ABOUT ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB

Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) are indeed crucial in promoting informed civic participation, playing a fundamental role in empowering individuals to understand the electoral process and their rights within it. By fostering awareness, these clubs equip people, especially young voters, with the knowledge and tools to make responsible and informed decisions during elections.

They often focus on key areas such as understanding the electoral system, voter registration processes, the significance of free and fair elections, and the role of citizens in a democracy. Through activities like workshops, debates, mock elections, and discussions on current political issues, ELCs aim to demystify the electoral process, encouraging greater engagement, reducing voter apathy, and building trust in democratic institutions.

In democracies worldwide, the success of elections depends on the active and informed participation of citizens, and the work of Electoral Literacy Clubs helps to ensure that the power of the vote is exercised wisely, reinforcing the core principles of democratic governance.

Awareness Programme Schedule for First-Time Voters

The awareness programme conducted at SRM TRP Engineering College exemplified a commendable effort in catering to the unique needs and concerns of first-time voters. By providing tailored guidance, information, and inspiration, the initiative empowered participants to embrace their role as active contributors to the democratic fabric of the nation. With the dedicated support of faculty and student coordinators, such initiatives pave the way for a more engaged, informed, and participatory electorate, ensuring a brighter future for democracy.

ECI-WALL MAGAZINE CUM POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

The Election Commission of India (ECI) organized a Wall Magazine cum Poster Making Competition on October 20, 2023, at SRM TRP ENGINEERING COLLEGE, as part of the Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) activities. The theme for this competition was “My Vote is My Right – Power of One Vote.” The objective of the competition was to create awareness about the importance of voting and to encourage students to exercise their franchise.

10th National Voter’s Day

On behalf of SRMTRPEC NSS cell 10th National Voter’s Day was organized on 25th Jan 2022 at conference hall in SRMTRP Engineering College. Teachers and students were actively involved in this program. The resource person gave a lecture on the importance of vote and why should we put vote, how to elect the leader, these moral principles were taught to the students fruitfully. Finally, interaction with question by resource person for more than fifteen minutes. It was closed by vote of thanks by vice principal.
