Hostel Rules & Regulations

Accommodation

Each hostel is managed by a Warden/ competent authority who is regular faculty/ staff member of the Institute, Residential tutor and supervisor.
Statutorily, hostel accommodation is available to undergraduate (UG) Students, only during a working semester. No student will have a right to occupy a room during vacation. But he/she may be permitted to stay on request, if he/she is doing any course work / project work / Institute work / Hostel work.
Hostel accommodation is available to postgraduate (PG) students for their study duration. They can retain their room during odd semester vacation. At the end of the year-end they have to vacate the hostel.
Hostel accommodation is available to research scholars throughout the year subject to a maximum of 5 years. Ph.D. scholars shall vacate the hostel even in the middle of a semester once they are relieved from the Institute. However, they have to pay establishment charges for the entire semester.
Hostel accommodation may be provided to staff members who are registered for and working towards a degree at the Institute based on their request for rooms for a limited period, which could be extended, based on the availability of rooms. They are required to pay room rent, establishment charges and any other charges as decided by the Hostel Management. The staff residing in hostels are governed by the same rules, applicable to regular students of the Institute.
The students are entitled for accommodation in the hostel as long as they are full time registered students. Accommodation will not be provided to any student whose registration is canceled. Any student who is removed from the Rolls of Institute will automatically cease to be a member of the hostel.
Married students/ Research scholars/ QIP scholars, who are provided quarters in the campus, are fully exempted from hostel stay. In case they are allotted a room in the hostel in the first instance, the charges are payable for one semester even if they vacate the hostel in the middle of the semester, and the refund of the charges paid by them is not permissible.
If they wish to come back to the hostel during the semester at a later date, then the full semester charges are payable once again. In such cases, hostel accommodation is provided to the student and not to the spouse or children.
If any student is denied a room in hostels by the Hostel Administration Committee due to paucity/ damage/ maintenance for a longer period of rooms, then a complete exemption for payment of charges may be granted to the student by the Chief Warden till such time accommodation is made available.

Allotment

Admin manager of the institution is responsible for room allotment and hostel head’s decision is final and binding.
At the time of admission of a student into the hostel and at the beginning of every year, each resident is required to submit a duly completed Personal Data Form. The telephone number of the parent must be provided. Local Guardian is optional. Email of the parent (if available) should also be provided. Any change of address / telephone number of the parent / local guardian, at any point of time, has to be intimated immediately to the hostel office in writing.
The Hostel administration will generally provide minimum furniture and fittings for each room consisting of cot, table, chair, ceiling fan, AC (if applicable) with regulator and, a tube light fitting(s).
Rooms once allotted to the students for an academic year will not be changed except in special situations.
The Hostel administration can allot the bed for its fullest capacity of the room/ hall.
If the status of any student changes during the period of stay in the hostel, he/she is required to inform the Warden/ competent authority of Hostel immediately and should vacate the hostel if the Hostel Management finds that he/she is not eligible for hostel accommodation.

Admission & Reporting

The students can approach any of the officers for help, guidance and grievance redressal. Representations to higher officers must be forwarded through proper channels.
The student shall report/ represent grievances to the concerned Head of Institution/ Chief Warden through his/ her hostel head/ corresponding authority.
The student should fully cooperate / participate / furnish appropriate feedback/ project requirements and be cordial (reg. Mess, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and services) to the Warden concerned positively and record the particulars for improvement in the respective Register.
The student should update his/ her contact details as and when there is a change.
The student should read all the procedures, rules, and regulations in the hostel handbook and abide by all the rules and regulations in letter and spirit.
Any breach of these rules will invite an enquiry that will be conducted by the Hostel Management. If the student is found guilty, then the Hostel Management will take disciplinary action that it deems fit. Depending on the case, the management reserves the right to take direct disciplinary action, amounting to a heavy fine for once, followed by suspension or even expulsion at short notice from the hostel and institution.
The hostel students are required to sign a Hostel Undertaking form. In case of any damage, the cost and a fine amount proportional to the damage shall be levied by the HAC.
The hostel students are duty bound to report to the supervisor / Warden/ competent authority/ Chief Warden in case they notice any unwanted incident or undesirable activity going on in the hostel or on the campus.
Fees shall be paid before the beginning of every Year.
Any inconvenience regarding stay, food, or any other issues related to the hostel are to be intimated to the hostel authorities immediately for necessary action.
The students are expected to carry their college ID card/ hostel ID card with them for the entire duration.
During the stay hours, the students are expected to stay within the respective hostel for which they have obtained allotment.
Students proceeding on medical Leave from the campus should produce the Medical Certificate issued by the Medical Officer at the time of their leaving.
In case of sudden illness, information should be given to the Hostel Office immediately. Hostel authorities will guide the students for further medical support.
Beyond the approved holidays, if the student needs to stay in their native place for any reason, they should obtain permission from HoD and the same to be intimated to the warden/ corresponding authority.
No refund will be made from the ‘Annual Room Rent’, ‘Mess Fees’ etc. irrespective of his/ her period of stay in the Hostel in an Academic year.
The student has to verify the items of fittings and furniture as in the checklist which need to be signed. The property should be returned back properly as received else penalty will be levied for the replacement of the fittings/ furniture.

Code of conduct

All the hostel students are required to maintain standards of behaviour expected from students of the Institution. They are expected to behave courteously and fairly with everyone both inside and outside the campus.
All the hostel students are required to carry their valid Identity Cards issued to them by the Institute.
The student should wholeheartedly adhere to both College and Hostel Rules and Regulations and also amendments and instructions which will be implemented from time to time, in the overall interest of discipline and harmony in the Hostel / College / Campus. The student should be responsible and set a good example for his/ her fellow students. The student should stay in Hostel for the full period of his/ her course in the overall interest of his/ her development, academic progress, and for transforming himself/ herself as a ‘True Professional’. The student should emerge every day as a better professional student with positive thoughts.
The students should commit themself to be disciplined and intensify his/ her focus on their development and progress. The student should fully concentrate on his/ her studies particularly during study hours and shall not cause hindrance to anyone. The student should not resist the study hour scheme directly or indirectly.
The student should observe the Hostel timings and abide by the study hours of the Hostel.
The student should always uphold the dignity and image of his/ her institution and his/ her Colleagues / Faculty / Staff.
The student should maintain the academic ambiance in the Hostels including study hours and not indulge in indiscipline/ interfere with others / make noise / misbehave. The student should seriously observe study hours on all days.
The student should go to bed early and get up early and have his/ her breakfast on time to be punctual and regular to his/ her Classes.
The student should be modest and decent w.r.t his/ her dress and shall not violate the code of conduct in any manner; The student should uphold the decency and dignity of our ‘culture and values’ through his/ her dress code and behavior.
The students should not screen pirated / unauthorized / unlicensed movies in their computers and common rooms. Any violation will be dealt with severely. Punishment for the same will be decided by authorities.
General damage to the hostel property will be the collective responsibility of all the hostel students and they will be required to make good such damage, if the students who caused the damage could not be identified.
Inmates are responsible for the upkeep of rooms along with table, cot, electrical fittings, etc. If any damage occurs, the charges for repair/replacement/white washing etc. will be deducted from their hostel deposit/advance.
The resident shall not move any furniture from its proper allotted place and also not damage them in any way. If there are any additional items other than the above belonging to the hostel in a room, the occupant of the room shall hand over them to the Warden/ competent authority, failing which he/she will be charged a penal rent as decided by the Warden/ competent authority.
The resident shall not remove any fittings from any other room and get them fitted in his/her room.
Employing unauthorized persons for personal work such as washing clothes, etc., is not permitted. Members of the hostel staff should not be asked to enter the hostel room on any account.
Students are not allowed to celebrate any parties (like birthdays) inside the hostel.
Students should not arrange any functions or meetings within the hostel or outside or within the Institute campus without specific permission of the concerned authorities.
For any activity within the hostel such as meeting, election and celebrations are not allowed.
Students should not arrange for any picnic/ tour outside not permitted.
Students are not allowed to organize their own personal trips without prior permission from Warden/ competent authority and parents. No last minute permission is granted. Should be intimated at least a day before leaving.
Students should avoid moving to uncommon places in the institute zone and should not indulge in misconduct in the campus premises.
Random surprise checks for ensuring discipline will be conducted in the venues during the permitted hours.

Permission/ Leave

Hostel inmates are expected to obtain prior permission from the hostel authorities by submitting a “sign out” form before they can leave the hostel. The students can register for absence in the biometric systems available in the hostel premises before they leave.
The students can leave the hostel premises early in the morning hours by 5.30 am with the prior permission of the hostel authorities.
Hostel timings are to be strictly followed by the SRM inmates. Relaxation in the hostel and the mess timings are not entertained under any circumstances. Visitors are allowed only till 6.00 pm on all days.
The student should return from College / Library / Project work / Sports / Indoor Games latest by 6.00 pm (for Girls) and 8.00 pm (for Boys) every day and fully cooperate w.r.t. his/ her daily attendance, by his/ her physical presence in his/ her room at 8.00 pm.
All the girl students are expected to be in the hostel before 6.00 pm (6.30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays). If any student wishes to be away from the hostel during the weekend, holidays or any other time, she has to take prior permission from the competent authority through their parent/ local guardian.
The students are expected to be inside the hostel by 8.00 pm on weekdays and at 8.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The students are expected to give their biometric roll call before 8.30 pm on week days and before 9.00 pm on weekends.
Students who have obtained roll call extension are expected to give their roll call in person to the competent authority once they return back to the hostel
The students requesting roll call extension must get permission from competent authority before 4 pm on the day of extension which will be informed to the warden.
If the behaviour of any individual/team during roll call extension hours is found to be unacceptable, hostel authorities have the right to cancel all future roll call extensions for them.
If any student violates any rule during roll call extension and exposes himself/ herself to harm’s way, it will be the sole responsibility of the student for his/ her safety.
Silence must be maintained by the students during roll call extensions irrespective of the activity for which permission is availed.
Inmates are expected to maintain discipline in the hostel and not to cause inconvenience to other fellow inmates. In this regard the time period from 11.00 pm to 6.00 am is treated as “Silence Hour” and students are expected to maintain silence and not disturb others during these hours.
The student should enter their ‘out time’ and ‘in time’, in the movement Register at the Gate Security Office whenever leaving the hostel with permission to go out of the campus after submitting the gate pass. The physical presence of parent/ Local Guardian is a must, for proceeding to Native place / Night stay at relative’s/ friend’s place. This is necessary for the interest of his/ her Safety and Security.
The student is not permitted to stay in the hostel during the class hours without specific permission from the competent authority.

Discipline & Disciplinary action

The students involved in theft cases will be expelled from the hostel immediately and the amount will be recovered from them.
The student should not smoke; shall not indulge in any indiscipline activities such as consuming alcohol, liquor, drugs, narcotics, gambling, etc. Smoking and consumption/ possession of tobacco/ alcoholic drinks and / or narcotic drugs in the hostel/ campus premises is strictly prohibited. If found, the student will be suspended from the hostel.
Students shall not enter the hostel premises in an intoxicated state and should not possess such materials. Severe action will be taken if any resident is found to violate this, resulting in expulsion from hostels and rustication from the Institute. Hostel/ Campus zone is a smoke-free zone, students/ any member should not smoke inside the hostel / room / common room / dining hall / toilets / corridors / terrace etc. Depending on the case, the management reserves the right to take direct disciplinary action, amounting to even expulsion at short notice from the hostel.
The student shall not resort to any kind of Mass Action / Groups / Agitation directly or indirectly either inside the campus or outside. The student shall not indulge in Group/ Non – productive activities/ Indiscipline/ Gossip/ Strikes/ Politics/ Violence/ feelings with Communal/ Religious bias or any other form of agitation. In the event of his/ her failure to comply with these, The student should abide by the action including legal action by Authorities – that might be warranted against the inmate and this may even include dismissal from Hostel /Termination from College.
The student is responsible for any breakage or loss / damage to hostel property to pay the amount towards any damage to the Hostel property by the defaulting student or students staying in the respective rooms/floors in the hostel.
The resident of a room is responsible for any damage to the property in the room during his / her occupancy of that room and will be required to make good the damage, if any. He/she is required to fill in the inventory of the furniture and other items available and hand over the furniture & other materials in good condition when he/she changes/vacates the room/hostel.
In case of damage to or loss of hostel property the cost will be recovered from the students responsible for such damage or loss, if identified, or from all the students of the hostel, as decided by the Warden/ competent authority.
Any student who is found indulging in undesirable activities such as physical assault, damage to properly, hosting / harbouring an offender will be also liable to the following punishments:
1. He / she will be expelled from the hostel.
2. A record of his / her misconduct will be made in the personal file.
3. The cost of damage will be fully recovered from him / her together with a penalty.
4. He / she will also be fined commensurate with the offence committed.
5. The privilege of appearing for campus interviews will be denied, when he / she reaches the final year.
6. No recommendations will be given to him / her for studies abroad.
The hostel students should not participate in any anti-national, antisocial or undesirable activity in or outside the campus.
The visit of a person of the opposite sex to the hostel is restricted to common room and lounge.
The Hostel Management reserves its right to change these rules from time to time keeping the students informed through general circulars displayed on the hostel notice boards.
Any inmates, who are found misbehaving/indulging in an activity that spoils the repute of the institute, will be immediately suspended from the hostel with the consent of the Chief Warden.

Anti-Ragging

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Ragging is a punishable crime under Indian Penal Code. To eliminate such incidents, first year students are not allowed to visit senior’s hostels. If the first year students are found to visit the senior hostels, they will be suspended from the hostels considering the fact that such visits are aiding the ragging activities.
Ragging of students admitted to the Institute is totally banned. Any violation of this by the students will be dealt with very severely.
With reference to the UGC REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009 (under Section 26 (1)(g) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956), vide notification F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II) dt. 17.06.2009, ragging is a punishable crime In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matter of “University of Kerala v/s. Council, Principals, Colleges and others” in SLP no. 24295 of 2006 dated 16.05.2007 and that dated 8.05.2009 in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009. This has come to effectiveness to prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or in disciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student, or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student; and thereby, to eliminate ragging in all its forms from universities, deemed universities and other higher educational institutions in the country by prohibiting it under these Regulations, preventing its occurrence and punishing those who indulge in ragging as provided for in these Regulations and the appropriate law in force.
In view of the above an anti-ragging squad is active and our campus is ragging free. Hence any such activities if occur will be viewed with due seriousness and the student will be subjected to subsequent actions as per the stipulated act.
What constitutes Ragging.- Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
1. any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
2. indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student;
3. asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
4. any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
5. exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
6. any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
7. any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
8. any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student ;
9. any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.
10. In case of any such instances either directly been contacted by the senior, being a victim or if the student happen so witness any such incident which can be categorically defined under ragging as above as a campus resident he/she should immediately report to the appropriate authority Warden/ competent authority/ Anti ragging squad for further course of action. Such informants will be protected and shall not be subject to any adverse consequence only for the reason for having reported such incidents. Fresher’s should clearly desist from doing anything with or against their will, even if ordered to by the senior students and that any attempt of ragging shall be promptly reported to the above authorities as the case may be.
First year UG students are for the very same reason lodged in separate hostels fenced and the access of seniors are denied on these first year hostels. Any senior student found in those hostel premises for what so ever reason without prior permission shall be subjected to disciplinary action.
The students who are found indulge in such activities shall be punished appropriately after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed herein under.
1. The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, in regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Squad.
2. The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments, namely;
  1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  2. Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
  3. Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
  4. Withholding results.
  5. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  6. Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel.
  7. Cancellation of admission.
  8. Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
  9. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period. Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
An appeal against the order of punishment by the Anti-Ragging Committee shall lie,
1. in case of an order of an institution, affiliated to or constituent part, of a University, to the Vice-Chancellor of the University;
2. in case of an order of a University, to its Chancellor.
3. in case of an institution of national importance created by an Act of Parliament, to the Chairman or Chancellor of the institution, as the case may be. All senior students, hostellers and day scholars, are required to sign an Anti-Ragging Undertaking form.

Vehicles

The student should not own and use any type of vehicle like two-wheelers/car/cycle in the campus during his/ her stay in Hostel. Use of powered vehicles by students has been banned. The hostel students violating this rule are liable for punishment. Powered vehicles brought to the campus will be confiscated and huge penal charges will be levied. Confiscated vehicles will be released only at the end of the course completion.
The hostel students are required to park the cycles only in the space provided for them in an orderly manner. No cycles / vehicles should be parked at the entrance or in the corridors.

Appliances & Gadgets

The student should not possess or use a cell phone/ Laptop/ iPod/ TV/ VCR/ VCD / DVD music system/ any electrical appliances like immersion heaters, electric stove / heaters / electric iron within the Hostel. If found using the device (s), the same will be confiscated and a fine will also be imposed.

Maintenance

Students should bring to the notice of the Estate Maintenance office, through the Warden/ competent authority, for all routine maintenance works (Civil, Carpentry and Electrical), if any, to be carried out in their rooms.
Students should co-operate in carrying out maintenance work and vacate their rooms completely when the HAC requires the rooms for this purpose. On such occasions, the management will try to provide alternate accommodation. If any maintenance work is to be carried out when the room is under occupation, it is the occupant’s responsibility to make the room available for the same.
The inmates should also take the responsibility of common walls, fittings in the corridors, bathrooms, quadrangle etc. If any damage or misuse occurs the amount towards the cost of repair/replacement shall be equally shared by all the inmates of the hostel and the same shall be deducted from their hostel deposit/advance.
Inmates are required to switch off the tube lights and fans before they leave their rooms.

Safety and Security

Inmates are requested to keep their belongings safe. They are advised to keep under lock (preferably a branded one) all valuable items even when they are out for a short period.
Jewels and other costly items are not to be possessed in the hostel. Management/ Institute/ hostel authorities are not responsible for loss of any of their belongings.
The hostel students should not indulge in practices / activities, which may endanger their own personal safety as well as others.
The hostel students are required to obey all traffic rules inside and outside of the campus.
Any case of theft should be reported promptly to the Security Officer through the warden.
The jurisdiction of SRM is confined to the campus. If our students create law and order problems outside the campus, they are answerable to the police.
Many of the mofussil buses do not stop at SRM. The students are advised to ascertain this before they board the bus. Picking up a quarrel with the crew and not going out in large groups which are difficult to control. If anyone gets involved in unpleasant situations, end up creating a bad impression of our Institute which could be avoided.
Students going out of the campus for any reason must make an entry in the IN/OUT register and they are responsible for their safety and their belongings. Management/ Institute/ hostel authorities are not responsible for loss of any of their belongings.
Students are not allowed to use the hostel terrace.

Hygiene & Housekeeping

Students should not spit/paste/scribble anything on the walls and keep his/ her room, hostel and its environment neat and clean.
The rooms, common areas and surroundings should be kept clean and hygienic. Notices shall not be pasted/ scribbled on walls.
Rooms are allotted to each student on his/ her personal responsibility.
The hostel students are required to be conscious of the environment in which they live by keeping it clean, healthy and presentable. Students should not throw litter indiscriminately and should not use non-bio-degradable items, such as carry bags.
Cooking inside the rooms is strictly not allowed. Anyone found doing so will be punished.
General cleanliness in rooms, bathrooms, toilets and verandahs must be followed by all the inmates if not, strict actions will be taken.

Mess Rules

Food and other belongings of the mess are not to be taken outside the mess.
No student can take mess utensils such as plates, spoons, tumblers, etc, to their rooms.
I have read and understood the type of ‘Menu’ being provided.
1. The student should not ask for a change of Menu/ Mess/ Mess Fee during the year.
2. The student should adhere to the visitors’ Timings to facilitate smooth services and operations.
  Visitors Hour: Sat: 07.00 pm – 08.00 pm
  Sun: 08.00 am – 05.00 pm
3. The student should invariably wear and produce the Hostel ID Card while entering the Hostel / respective Dining Halls.
4. The student should not share plates/tumblers etc. with anyone. I will not waste food by any means and shall not take food to his/ her Room / out of the Mess.
Since good quality restaurants are available on campus, students may avoid visiting hotels outside of the campus, especially at night.
No student is allowed to stay in the hostel without being a member of any of the mess. Students have to keep their identity cards and produce it to the mess supervisor as and when required.
Once a student joins a mess, he / she shall be deemed to have become a permanent member of that mess throughout the semester.
Students who absent themselves on the date of reopening of the Institute after any semester vacation will be deemed to have joined the mess wherein they dined during the previous semester and will be charged accordingly.
Absence from joining the mess will be permitted only by the Chief Warden on request for valid reasons, for a maximum period of 10 days only from the date of reopening of the college. Afterwards they will be charged as stated above. Such permission should be obtained and the Convener of Hostels intimated well in advance of the absence.
Students should sign the Mess Joining Register kept in the messes at the time of their joining the mess.
The students should strictly adhere to the mess timings as prescribed by the chief warden.
The system of self service will be followed in all the messes.
The quantity of food will be unlimited except in the case of special items.
Students other than the Mess Committee Members are not permitted to enter the kitchen or store room of the mess on any account.
Students are not permitted to cook any food on their own accord in the messes or in their rooms.
No food will be served in the rooms of the hostel for any student unless a certificate is produced from the Institute Medical Officer to the effect that the students’ condition requires the food to be served in their rooms.
No diner shall waste food. Paying a mess bill does not entitle a diner to waste food.
Assist in maintaining the mess and surroundings neat and clean. No notices shall be pasted on walls. Notices put up on the notice boards should not be removed by the diners.
All diners shall interact with the mess staff in the dining hall in a courteous manner.
After eating food, diners shall leave the cup, plate, waste food etc. in the designated bins after cleaning.
All diners shall produce ID card and Mess card to dine every time in the mess.
If any diner is medically ill and requires a special diet (eg. Oil-less food) he / she can request the Warden/ competent authority to arrange for the same at the mess.
Students should not bring any pet animals into the mess halls or encourage such practice in the Hostel room.
Students should not wear sleeveless dresses while coming to mess.

Parents/ Local/ Guardian/ Guests/ Visitors

Day scholar students are not allowed to visit the hostel on any account. No student can entertain in their room/ mess/ any hostel premises.
Only the particular visitors who have authorized (parents or local guardian) are permitted to visit the hostel students during the visiting hour.
Entertaining unauthorized guests will lead to severe punishment including expulsion from the hostel.
No overnight guests are permitted in a student’s room without permission of the Warden/ competent authority. No person of the opposite sex either guest or otherwise shall be permitted to stay overnight in any part of the hostel.
All visitors to the hostel including the parents/guardians will have to make necessary entries in the visitor’s book available at the hostel entrance with the security guard.
The visit of men students to the women’s hostel and vice-versa is restricted.

Vacating & Readmission

Hostel staying eligibility will be terminated once College attendance falls below 95 % in a semester and or his/ her standing arrears exceed 3 at any point of time.
The student has to apply for Hostel accommodation for every Academic year, with a fresh application.
All students have to necessarily clear their belongings and keep them in the cloak rooms provided at their own risk and vacate the hostel rooms within 48 hours after the final annual University Exam/ annual vacation.
Readmission in the hostel for the subsequent academic year is not automatic. Track record and discipline shall form the basis for readmission, and shall be considered and processed every year by the Chief Warden who is the Head of the Institution concerned. Decision of the Chief Warden/ Head of Institution will be final.
Students have to apply afresh for readmission in the current year itself (one week before the final exam) to the HOD concerned. The HOD will recommend and forward the application to the Chief Warden, the application on the basis of the track record and merits of a student for re-admission. Thereafter, HoI will approve readmission in the hostel. Based on the above approval, a student will approach the Manager of the concerned college office and obtain the re-admission.
All the items that the student is bringing into the Hostel should be shown for a security check whenever they go out/ come in / while vacating the Hostel.
Before vacating the rooms, the students should fill up the Room Vacating Slip in triplicate. The electrical installations including the fan should be handed over intact, in addition to the furniture. The personal locks have to be removed while vacating the room.
