ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The present scenario demands adaptability and creativity in the new technical areas, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is equipped with the best of resources to enrich its bloodline of the department thereby ensuring high quality education to the students. The Department has state-of-the-art facilities for imparting practical knowledge in the field of mechanical Engineering. The intense professional will of the faculty is the root for the sustained excellence of the department. The present intake for undergraduate is 120 students and of postgraduate 18 students.

The department continuously interacts with industries in order to assimilate the current trends. It regularly organizes technical lectures, seminars, workshops to bridge the gap between the syllabus and current practice. The department has twenty well qualified staff members with 3 PhD’s and 4 members pursuing PhD with rich experience in teaching and industries. The staff and students are associated with various professional bodies like ISTE, IE, IWS etc.

The department of Mechanical Engineering committed to excel in academics by providing ample opportunities for knowledge acquisition as well as for applications that enable the students in order to meet out the global needs.

Program Outcomes (PO's)

All graduate education programs are expected to have identified Technical/ Functional, Generic and Managerial competencies. The competencies that a graduate of a program should have been called Program Outcomes.

The program is preparing the graduates,

  • To apply the basic knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Mechanical Engineering and other related inter-disciplinary courses.
  • To demonstrate and formulate to solve Mechanical Engineering problems.
  • To identify the problem and the ability to design and conduct experiments as well as to Interpret and analyze the data.
  • To design a system, component or process to meet the desired technical needs within realistic constraints such as Economic, Environmental, Social, Ethical, Health, Manufacturability and Sustainability.
  • To visualize and work on laboratory with Multi-disciplinary tasks.
  • To use modern Engineering tools, software and equipment to analyze Mechanical Engineering problems.
  • To demonstrate the knowledge of Professional responsibilities and apprehend the code of conduct with ethical responsibilities.
  • To be able to communicate effectively their point of views in both oral and written forms.
  • To show the understanding of impact of Engineering solutions to the society and also will be aware of current issues.
